THE Bahraini trio of Ahmed Ghuloom, Hussain Al Watani and Hussain Mahmood each lost their respective matches yesterday on the third day of World Under-21 Snooker Championship in Goa, India.

Ghuloom lost his group ‘A’ match 2-4 to local player Pushpinder Singh for his first defeat in three matches. He previously beat Qatar’s Ali Al Obaidly and Dutchman Arya Sohrabi. Ghuloom is set to take on Joseph Loughran of Northern Ireland today.

In group ‘D’, Al Watani dropped two matches yesterday, first to Egypt’s Ehaab El Egamy (1-4), and then to Belgian Kristof Vermeiren (0-4). He now has only one win from four matches, and today faces Chinaman Li Hang.

Mahmood, meanwhile, lost 0-4 to Yu Delu, also of China, in group ‘F’. The Bahraini is still winless in the group, and will be looking for his first triumph today when he takes on Daniel Faddoul of Australia.

Sixty-four players representing 29 countries are taking part in the championship. Seven Arab countries are represented in the competition, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Egypt, Syria and Bahrain.

The participants were drawn in eight groups of eight players each with the top four in each group qualifying for the second round.
