Congress workers should unitedly fight the Lok Sabha by-poll in South Goa scheduled on October 30, Chief Minister Digamber Kamat said today.

“We should unite and fight the polls. We are surely going to be victorious,” the Congress leader said while addressing a gathering of the party’s block presidents here. The party is yet to announce its candidate for the election.

Kamat assured the workers that right candidate will be selected by the party high command for the by-poll, necessiated by the resignation of Congress MP Churchill Alemao on May 8. Alemao later floated his own political outfit, Save Goa Front, and contested the Assembly election.

Sardinha said the suggestions put forward by the party workers will be considered by high command while finalising the candidate for the by-poll.
