The Central government has approved two thermal scanners for Goa which would be installed at state’s international airport at Dabolim, an entry point for international travellers, to check swine flu. “Director of health services has received letter yesterday from Union Health informing that two thermal scanners are approved for Goa,” state nodal officer for swine flu, Dr Jose De Sa told reporters here.

Goa, which receives around four lakh foreign tourists mostly from destinations like the UK and Russia, will usher into the tourist season mid-September. Health authorities will hold meeting with directorate of tourism and other hoteliers, sensitising them on swine flu, De Sa said. The hotels will have signages, which will educate tourists about the authorities to be contacted on finding swine flu symptoms. De Sa said posters and handbills would also be pasted at important tourist places.

  1. I think you need to go into more detail into these “thermal scanners”, as a normal thermal scanner will detect any illness that raises temperatures in the individual.
