Anna Hazare\’s anti-graft campaign will echo in the March 3 Goa Legislative assembly polls forcing people to vote against the
corrupt, feels Remo Fernandes, who has been chosen as the brand ambassador of the Election Commission to promote ethical voting in the state. “Thanks to Anna, corruption is going to be the big issue. Thanks to the awareness created through his fast, this election would be fought on the issue of corruption,” Remo told reporters yesterday in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi.
The issues of religion, caste and creed have always shadowed the main issue of corruption in the previous elections but not this time, he said. The noted pop singer was recently selected as the brand ambassador by ECI for Goa. The singer said he would be creating awareness amongst people, especially youths to come out and vote ethically. “I have been writing songs against corruption for last 28 years,” he said. When asked whether he would compose a song for this election, Fernandes said, “I may compose a song but it always depends on my inspiration.” Fernandes\’ posters and banners would be erected along the state appealing people to come out in large numbers to vote. “I will also be giving media interviews asking people to vote. More than the title (of a brand ambassador), I see this as a great responsibility.I am taking this as a personal responsibility,” he said
