After the death of the student, who was fighting for her life, four days after she attempted suicide, the Panjim police have re-arrested Kannaiya Naik, the accused teacher who allegedly raped the student, this time on charges of abetment of suicide. The victim girl succumbed to her burn injuries Friday at the Goa Medical College, after four days after she set herself alight by dousing her body with kerosene. Naik was released from prison on bail about 15 days ago and thereafter the victim burnt herself expressing fears about Naik’s release from prison. Meanwhile the post mortem of the girl was also completed this afternoon at 12:45 by the Goa Medical College’s Forensic Department in the presence of police officials. The report has been handed over to the police .The 17-year old victim who had burnt herself at her Altinho flat on Tuesday afternoon allegedly feared for her life as she stated in her dying declaration. The police are also investigating whether the teacher violated the bail conditions. Naik had allegedly raped his student after he called her over to his house for remedial help in her studies.
