Shantaram Naik MP today, met Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and congratulated the minister for getting new dates approved for holding International Film Festival from 2012, from the International Federation of Film Producers Association,Paris.
In a statement issued from New Delhi Naik said that confirmation of the new dated , namely, from 20th November to 30th November, 2012 for holding International Film Festival was received by Shri Shankar Mohan ,Director , International Film Festival of India, New Delhi from Benoit Ginisty Director General ,International Federation of Film Producers Association, Paris by his letter dated 1st March ,2012.
Mr Naik said that he along with Mr Francisco Sardinha had been pursuing the matter with Mrs Soni prior to the commencement of 2011 International Film Festival, however, since it is the concerned international body from Paris ,which had to give approval, dates could not be changed last year.
It is strange that those who are unconnected with the efforts made in this regard are taking credit which is not due to them.
The decision , it is apparent, Mr Naik said ,was conveyed much before the new Government in Goa took over.
Further , Mr Naik said that Mrs Soni has told him that she has received representation that even these new dates are not finding favour with the representatives of Christian community ,and therefore, new dates to hold the festival from either 10th November to 20th November or from 5th December to 15th December, are also being explored.
