Union Commerce Ministry’s Board of Approval is expected to take its stand on four Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in Goa which are approved but not notified by the Centre, in its meeting on Thursday.
State Industries Secretary, Mr V K Jha, who will be representing Goa in the meeting to be held at Delhi, said that the state government has already made its stand clear on SEZs.
“We have already made it clear that the state is unwilling for these SEZs,” Jha told PTI. “Our stand remains the same and we have already conveyed it to the ministry,” Jha added.
Of the total 15 SEZs that were proposed for the state seven were approved by the state government, while rejecting the rest. Amongst these seven, three were notified while four were pending notification from the Centre when the Digamber Kamat led gov ernment declared scrapping of all such industrial enclaves in the state on the eve of New Year.
“The issue of three SEZs pending denotification is not on agenda tomorrow,” Jha clarified
