Top Congress leaders in Delhi have apparently ruled out cabinet reshuffle before the South Goa parliamentary by-polls.

Fearing a backlash in the event of any political moves now, sources disclosed that the Save Goa Front president and PWD Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao has clearly been told that cabinet reshuffle, if any, will take place only after the by-elections.

While the PWD Minister chose to remain incognito throughout the day and even late in the evening, Curtorim MLA, Mr Alex Reginald Lourenco on the other hand, refused to make any comments.

“I have no comments to make. Mr Alemao is my leader and I have left everything in his hands,” Mr Lourenco said.

He said he was still parked in Delhi but did not meet any of the leaders since morning.

According to information coming in trickles, Mr Alemao could not meet the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr Priya Das Munshi but had a brief interaction with the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor, Mr Ahmed Patel.

There was no discussion on the allotment of Congress ticket for the prestigious Mormugao parliamentary seat, a source said and added that the floor was still wide open.

That things were not going along to the plan was evident when the PWD Minister was not traceable on his mobile phone throughout the day and late in the evening.

Meanwhile, supporters close to the PWD Minister sounded crestfallen and were not willing to reveal anything.

Even the ever ebullient Curtorim MLA sounded sedate and refused to make any comments whatsoever.
