The Memorandum of Understanding between the state and the Centre about the forthcoming International Film Festival of India will be signed later this week in New Delhi, as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has cleared the draft of the MoU, which now includes most of the demands of the state government as regards its share in the organisation of the mega film event. The general manager of the Entertainment Society of Goa, Mr Nikhil Desai told The Navhind Times on Wednesday evening that signing of the MoU for the IFFI 2008 is now just a formality, after the contents of the draft MoU have received green signal from the I&B Ministry. The MoU would be signed in the next two or three days, he pointed out.

It may be recalled that the Union Minister for I&B, Mr Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi after a meeting with the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, earlier this month, had agreed to allow the ESG to independently handle sections like Indian Premiers, Retrospective, and Country Focus. The 11-day film festival will open on November 22, later this year.
