Launching a severe attack on Churchill Alemao for deserting Congress, the AICC General Secretary and observer, Margaret Alva today equated him to Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus for 30 silver coins.

Calling Alemao a ‘traitor,’ Alva told a press conference on Friday here that this was the same person who had gone to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on his knees crying for help, to protect Goa from the misrule of BJP. But now he has struck a deal with the same party, she said.
Alva said Alemao may have forgotten it but she has not, and that Alemao has become a Judas for personal gains.

She said that Congress stood by him when he was caught in a sting operation accepting cash and that it was due to the intervention of some Congressmen no inquiry committee was constituted against him.
However, Alva maintained that Congress was not upset by Alemao’s exit.
Calling Alemao ‘ungrateful’ and ‘irresponsible’, she said, Congress has not wronged him any way. Questioning his credibility and in a way scorning his party Save Goa Front (SGF), Alva said: “It is people who need to be saved from Churchill.â€
She dismissed the general perception that Congress has put Goa on sale and blamed the same on BJP. She held Manohar Parrikar responsible for RP 2011, during whose tenure it was prepared.
