Goa coach Mariano Dias admitted that the final against West Bengal would be by no means an easy match and has urged his side to bring the trophy back to the western state.
West Bengal defeated Goa 5-0 ten years ago at the same venue to win the Santosh Trophy and Dias is aware of this fact. Speaking to Goal.com, Mariano Dias said,”Goa versus Bengal will be a tough game. We are getting close to our target. Let’s lift the trophy now.”
One player, who has excelled for Goa throughout the tournament, has been Felix D’Souza having managed to keep a clean sheet in all the matches played. “It was Felix who kept us in the semi-finals. He pulled off four brilliant saves and thus, denied Tamil Nadu the victory,” said Dias.
However, the coach refused to accept that his side were second best to Tamil Nadu in their last match and felt that they did enough to win. “They are the home side and so playing against them is always difficult. They missed their chances and so, did we. In the first half, we were the better side and the second, they were.”
