Abrupt ending of Indian Airlines flight services in the summer schedule beginning April 1 between Goa and the UAE has left many a passengers upset here. “I can’t understand why such a useful link has been severed especially when the service has been running well,” R P D’souza, who works in Dubai was quoted as saying by the Gulf Today.
Abhay Pathak, regional manager of Indian Airlines, meanwhile told PTI that all efforts are being made to accommodate the passengers who will not be able to go in the direct flights.
As the Sharjah-Goa sector is heavily booked for the next few weeks, passengers would be taken via Mumbai, he said. The flight on Sharjah-Goa-Kozhikode-Kochi route was a “high yield” service, but airline sources are perplexed by the move of the Indian state-run carriers. The airlines earlier had stopped its weekly flight from Dubai to Goa in the winter schedule of 2007.
