Kolkata native held with fake notes

police on Thursday evening arrested a 19-year-old native of Kolkata after he was found in possession of  3 counterfeit notes of Rs 1000 denomination.

The accused Raj Kamal was nabbed by the police when he was allegedly found exchanging a note of Rs 1000 in the fish market.

Police said the accused had employed a simple modus operandi wherein he used to purchase fish with the fake notes.

Sources in the know disclosed that the accused used to buy fish worth Rs 50 by presenting a Rs 1000 note. He is believed to have hoodwinked around 8 fish vendors in the last few days. Today one of the victim vendors recognized the accused as the same

customer who had presented a fake Rs 1000 note and raised an alarm.He was later handed over to the Margao police, sources said.The accused is believed to have told the police that he his accomplice is in possession of more counterfeit notes.
The police are on the look out of Kamal’s accomplice. PSI Mohan Gaude confirmed to Herald late this evening that the accused hailing from Kolkata has been arrested by the police and is presently behind bars.  Last year, the Margao police had arrested a native of  Kolkata from a construction site at Navelim after he was found in possession of counterfeit notes.
