Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on wednesday inducted Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP’s) Ramakrishna Dhavalikar into the cabinet dropping Congress MLA and state minister Pandurang Madkaikar.
Soon after the induction, the Chief Minister announced that all the portfolios earlier enjoyed by Madkaikar — transport, river navigation and social welfare — would be shifted to Dhavalikar.

The move is an off shoot of recent political crisis led by Nationalist Congress Party legislators which were defused after the high command stepped in.
On January 16, the NCP led group comprising two Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Legislators and an Independent Legislator Vishwajit Rane had withdrawn the support to Kamat-led government.
The coordination committee headed by All India Congress Committee General Secretary B Hariprasad and comprising NCP leaders like Prafulla Patel had resolved to induct Dhavalikar.
“I have implemented the decision of the coordination committee,” the Chief Minister told reporters outside Raj Bhavan this evening.
Goa Governor S C Jamir admired oath of secrecy to newly inducted minister.
The Chief Minister said that his government is stable from day one and the decision to induct Dhavalikar has “nothing to do with stability”.
Kamat, however, refused to comment on what criteria Madkaikar was dropped from the cabinet. “I am not supposed to tell these things in public. It’s a party decision,” the Chief Minister said.
