Amid a raging controversy, the state government today served a notice on Pandurang Nadkarni, who had been recommended for the post of State Information Commissioner and sought details about his professional achievements listed in his CV.

.In the notice served on Tuesday, the Directorate of Information and Publicity has asked Nadkarni to produce all relevant documents pertaining to his career, since the beginning. Confirming this, Director of Information Menino Peres said that the information has been sought as per the procedure which is adopted while appointing a commissioner. He said that government wanted Nadkarni to clarify some issues pertaining to his professional achievements and hence sort details from him. When asked, Peres said “This has nothing to do with the FIR (first information report) filed by Advocate Aires Rodrigues.” He said that the appointment of the commissioner would be done by Goa Governor, while the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar-headed committee has just done the selection. “The governor being the appointing authority can accept or reject the name proposed by the government,” he said. The information director rubbished the claims of Rodrigues that the government has served notice seeking an explanation from him regarding the alleged distortions and false claims made by him in the bio-data submitted for the post of state information commissioner.Rodrigues, last week had filed a complaint with Crime Branch against Nadkarni for allegedly falsifying his bio-data to secure the post.
