Goa&aposs Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte today welcomed Centre&aposs move to inject sweeping changes in the country&aposs educational system including doing away with the Xth board exams.
“We welcome Human Resource Minister Kapil Sibal&aposs statement. Especially the thought to give away the board examination for secondary school certificate is necessary as students are burdened with the fear of exams,” Monserratte told PTI.

Monserratte said he has consulted his department officials who are in unison with his viewpoint on the issue. “The students start getting burdened with uphill task of scoring good marks in SSC when they are in eighth standard itself. This will be eliminated, if proposal comes through,”he said. The minister said that he is yet to receive the proposal in any concrete form and would be able to comment only after going through it properly.
