Goa will organised the visit of around 1500 school students from the state to the Swami Vivekanand Memorial at Kanyakumari, as part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekanand.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that the state government has proposed to organize the visit to Kanyakumari under the bharat darshan programme. About 1500 students from Classes V to XII will be selected for the trip. Roughly five students will be selected from various schools and higher secondary schools in the state for the programme, Parrikar said.
Parrikar stressed on the need to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda among cross sections of the society, especially at the grass root level. “”The proposed programme for the students is to enable them to take inspiration from life and mission of Swami Vivekananda to achieve greater heights. The trip will help the students to channelize their energies to take the country to the pinnacles of glory,”" Parrikar said.
Parrikar made the announcement while speaking as the chief guest at a programme organized to mark the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Swami Vivekananda. The function was organized by the state education department at Goa’s Kala Academy located in the capital city.
