Ending the long innings of Ramchandra Mule as chairman of Goa State Cooperative Bank (GSCB), and a unpleasant aftermath of the election, Ulhas Phaldesai was on Tuesday unanimously elected as the Chairman of the bank, while Marcus Silva was elected deputy.
Mule’s panel which had won the August 19 election with the majority were reduced to minority within hours, after two of its directors switched sides. The results of the election held for the post of Chairman and deputy were obvious after the directors supporting Phaldesai had outnumbered Mule.
The election was unanimous since the three directors supporting Mule panel did not turn for the crucial board of directors meeting. Ulhas Phaldesai was elected as Chairman while Marcus Silva was elected as vice chairman of the bank. After being elected, Phaldesai said that his priority would be to bring the bank back on track, implying he had to improve the financial position. “We have to do lot of work here. I expect cooperation from one and all”, he said.
