With a honeyed voice, an intense passion for music and a Filmfare award tucked under his arm, playback singer Benny Dayal will perform on 2nd March at BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa Campus.

Known for chartbusters like Pappu Can’t Dance Saala from Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Kaise Mujhe Tum Milgaye from Ghajini and Aadat Se Majboor from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl in Bollywood, he is a renowned artist across the south as well, with hits like Maduraikku Pogadhadi from Azhagiya Tamizh Magan andTangali Tandeya Nanna Baalalli from Love Guru accredited to his name. Starting off with a rock music band as a college student in Chennai, Dayal has strung up his musical career ladder, rung by rung, setting aside his bread-and-butter job to dedicate his life entirely to music. Recognized at an early stage in his career by the one and only A.R. Rahman, provided him with a cushy launchpad but his musical graph never stagnated and has always been a continuously increasing curve.

He has carved out his own niche in Bollywood with his jukebox hits that leave you humming the same song for days. He has lent his sonorous voice to tracks like Tarkeebein from Band Baaja Baarat and the title track of the movie Ek Main Aur Ekk tu, he has an mesmerizing stage presence and belts out spectacular live performances.

“Main Pareshaan, Pareshaan, Pareshaan, Pareshaan…” As her alto textured voice reverberates “Main Pareshaan” which in Hindi literally means “I’m troubled”, for Shalmali Kholgade, ironically, the song spelled the turning point of her musical career as she bagged the Filmfare Award 2013 as Best Female Playback Singer for the same. Shalmali will perform on 1st March at BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa Campus.

The 25 year old singer has planted her feet firmly in Bollywood with her two very first songs turning into instant certified hits. Daaru Desi , from the movie Cocktail, a duet with Benny Dayal was on top of the charts for eight weeks straight. Her refreshingly sensuous and raspy voice combined with her youth, zeal and attitude has the best music directors lining up at her doorstep. Her recent hits which include Aga Bai from Aiyya and Lat Lag Gayi from Race 2, generated nationwide appreciation and continue to burn the charts in 2013. She has featured prominently in the Peddlers soundtrack – a film which has been selected to represent India at the 51st edition of Cannes Critics’ Week.

Having done a fair share of jingles and English music gigs, she paid tribute to Amy Winehouse last year at Blue Frog in Mumbai. Furthermore,Shalmali has also performed as a soloist with a Latvian troupe in a Cabaret named Bombaloo which toured Moscow, Russia and Yerevan, Armenia.

Catch these performances live this SPREE 2013 only at BITS Pilani K.K. Birla Goa Campus.
