Secretary Tourism M Modassir, deputy director of tourism Hanumant Parsekar and executive engineer Pramod Badani conducted an inspection
at the site of erosion-ravaged Candolim beach on Monday.

The officials visited the site after chief minister Digambar Kamat acting on queries from a delegation of villagers wanting to know how long it would take the government to declare the crisis at Candolim a state disaster. The officials suggested that they could use some wave breakers to curb the erosion and also consider dredging the sand bar between the grounded River Princess and the beach, but removal of the ship was the ultimate solution.

Meanwhile, at 11 am on Tuesday, Kamat is likely to hold a meeting with experts to discuss the River Princess issue. The hearing on the matter before Bombay High Court at Goa will also be taken up on Tuesday.
