Congress’s student wing, National Students Union of India (NSUI), has recommended expulsion of its vice chairman for filing a criminal case against the party minister, Churchill Alemao.

NSUI Goa Chief, Hasiba Amin, told reporters today that the state unit had asked the high command to expel NSUI vice chairman Sunil Kawthankar for anti-party activities. “Although he is an NSUI leader, he is targeting Congress leaders,” Amin said. Yesterday, Kawthankar filed a criminal complaint against state Public Works Department Minister Churchill Alemao and two government officials for an alleged fraud. Amin alleged that Kawthankar was blackmailing Congress through the police complaints, to get party ticket from Porvorim constituency in the next month\’s assembly polls. She also alleged that Kawthankar had support of former tourism minister and Goa Vikas Party chief, Fransisco Miccky Pacheco. Kawthankar, former NSUI Goa chief, had earlier fought a successful legal battle to force the state police to hand over infamous policemen-drug mafia nexus case to CBI.
