A case has been registered against an IAS officer and his wife in the city for allegedly cheating the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), police said on Tuesday.

A case has also been registered against some officials of the CCP, police said.

The case was registered following a complaint filed against them by an advocate alleging that R P Pal, who is also a former Secretary of IT and Town and Country Planning (TCP) of the CCP, allegedly arranged for a payment of Rs 147 per day from the CCP to his wife on a fictitious name as a daily wage worker.

“Preliminary investigations revealed evidence and we have registered an offence against them for criminal breach of trust, forgery, cheating and conspiracy,” PI Fransisco Corte said.

Pal, who was promoted into the IAS cadre from Goa civil services a few years ago, was relieved from Goa administration from August 31 this year and transferred to Lakshadweep.
