In a clear rebuff to BJP leader Manohar Parrikar’s statement that the present Congress government would not last long, Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat on Wednesday has asserted his government will complete full five-year term with the blessings of the common man.

“Despite attempts to topple me, my government will remain in power due to the blessings of aam admi and the common man”, he said while speaking at a function held in the Margao Municipal hall on Wednesday. “By staying in 5-star hotels and in Delhi, they wanted to bring down my government, but they could not succeed. I am confident that my government will complete full 5-year term”, a confident-looking Kamat told the gathering.
“Those who were trying to pull our legs became jittery as the popularity rating of my government was increasing day-by-day due to host of measures in the interest of the common man”, he said.
Referring to criticism made in certain quaters over his much-hyped aam admi concept, Kamat said “as long as I am the Chief Minister, the present government would continue to lay stress on aam admi”.
He said a government would be good only when the common man says so and not when a clean chit is received by the builders or mine owners.Underling the need for government servants to change their mindset, he said when the common man receive facilities without a phone call from a Minister or MLA.“I will not tolerate any injustice to the common man. Instructions have gone to the police to provide seating arrangement and drinking water for people coming to lodge complaints”, he added.
