Goa: Eduardo Faleiro Chosen ‘Goan of the Year – 2009’ by Kalavistar

Kalavistar, an organization involved with activities of bringing people together, has declared the chairman of Universal Peace Federation of India and Goa NRI Commissioner, Eduardo Faleiro, as the ‘Goan of the Year-2009’.

A high power committee chaired by Clarance Furtado, a senior journalist from Margao, and comprising former director of Doordarshan and noted poet, Yusuf A. Sheikh, editor of Konkonn Divo and Roman Konkani script activist, Ashok R Codankar, cultural ambassador of Kalavistar, Gopinath Shah, and noted Stage artiste and writer, Stanley Vaz,  unanimously selected Faleiro for this coveted honour.

Reacting to his having been chosen for the award, Eduardo Faleiro said that with the advancement of science and technology ‘the whole world has become a small place and we all are the members of one big family’. “We should, collectively try to convert adversities into opportunities and work together for ushering in peace and harmony in society”, he added. His daughter, Sonia Nisha, who is presently in Goa and has recently married Ulrik Robert Mc Knight, said that she was delighted and the family feels greatly humbled. “I feel extremely happy that my father is involved in a work which is noble and his service is recognized by the society”, she said.
