Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat today accused “certain groups” of unleashing their agenda of flaring up communal tension in the state.
Kamat, referring to the spate of temple robberies and a minority community prayer place demolition, said the state government has constituted special teams to study the modus operandi and probe into the groups who are involved in such attempts.
“I won’t be able to comment on the group involved in such attempts but for sure there are people working to flare up the tension,” Kamat told reporters.

A week after commercial town of Margao witnessed the riot, the Chief Minister addressed a press conference along with Home Minister Ravi Naik, Director General of Police B S Brar and other senior police officials.
Margao had turned tensed last week when two groups clashed and went berserk, following which the police cane-charged them and imposed section 144 of CrPC in the town.
“We are taking stern action against anyone involved in such activity irrespective of his caste, creed or religion. I have instructed the police to deal the situation with iron hand,” Kamat said.
Stating that there is strong ‘rumour mongering’ on in the state, the Chief Minister today appealed to the people not to fall prey for such activities.
