Goan Congressman celebrated the win of the United Progressive Alliance government, by lighting crackers and distributing sweets. The chief minister of the state Digamber Kamat also congratulated the Prime Minister for the same.
Following the victorious win of Manmohan Singh’s government in the confidence motion over the nuclear deal, Goa state’s chief minister Digamber Kamat congratulated him and said that the nuclear deal should now be made operational at its earliest in the interest of the nation.
“I congratulate the honourable Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi,” said Kamat as soon as the final count of the votes on motion of confidence was announced by the speaker Somnath Chatterji.
Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha, who was present for trust vote also congratulated the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Sardinha was grappled in a controversy as he had said in one function that UPA will definitely loose the trust vote, as small parties, which supported it had withdrawn the support.
This open statement of his had fumed Congressman in the state, which forced him (Sardhina) to take his words back. He had corrected his words by saying that UPA will win - a day after that.

UPA govt may fall, opines Sardinha

Even as the Congress is using every trick up its sleeve to save the Manmohan Singh government ahead of the July 22 trust vote, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Sunday created a flutter when he said there’s a possibility of the UPA government collapsing due to withdrawal of support by the supporting parties. And, Sardinha said the Congress would not shy away from facing the general elections if the polls are thrust on the Country.
Sardinha was addressing the function held to mark the inauguration of the Ravindra Bhavan here this evening, when he referred to the nuclear deal and the ongoing political crisis.
“There’s a possibility of the government falling. The supporting parties have withdrawn support after taking advantage of power”, he said. At the fag end of his brief speech, Sardinha, however, hoped that other parties and individuals would rally and bail out the beleagured Manmohan Singh government. “The BJP want polls. The Prime Minister has said the Congress is ready for the electoral battle if the opposition are forcing the elections on the country’, he said.
