Doelhe Danautic, part of Peter Doelhe group, today announced their growth plans by initiating operations in Goa. “The entry into Goa market would be an addition to our operations in Isle of Man, UK, Chile, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Russia, Philippines and Mumbai, Delhi in India,” company’s managing director Daniel Chopra told reporters here.
Chopra said that Goa has tremendous opportunities in the shipping industry as other industries like hospitality, travel and tourism, pharmacy, ship management and manning, and the logistic sector because the land is rich in minerals and ores.
The company has already inked a three-year contract with Vedanta group’s Sesa Goa company to transport coal from Australia to Goa, he said. “We are also in talks with Dempo group of companies and Fomento group for cargo handling,” Chopra said.
The company also eyes the off shore casino market in Goa. “We are looking at casino ship management, crewing and technical support,” he said. Goa is the only state to have off shore casinos mounted on the ship anchored in state waters.
Chopra said that the company has decided to strengthen its western region presence as the market research has shown that Goa has a large coastal business which is unnoticed.
“With our Goa operations, we are looking at providing technical management as well as logistics services to our clients and this will help in providing employment opportunities in this sector,” Chopra said.
Talking about the expansion plans, Chopra sad that the company also intends to expand its bases to the cities like Kolkatta, Chennai, Cochin and other coastal regions.
