Pandemonium broke in the Rajya Sabha today during zero hour, when Congress M.P. from Goa Shri Shantaram Naik raised the issue of atrocities against Christians community in Orissa and Karnataka.
At one stage, Shri Rudranarayan Panni of BJP charged towards Shri Naik when Congress M.P. Shri Kuntiya had to physically prevent him from doing so.
Mr. Naik had hardly uttered one or two sentences, all the members of BJP, including Shri S.S. Aluwalia and Shri B.J.Panda of Biju Janta Dal rose to protest against raising the issue on grounds that it is a State subject.
The Deputy Chairman Shri Rehman Khan ruled that Mr. Naik’s notice has been admitted and that he has every right to make his submission.
Mr. Yeshwant Sinha and Mr. Ahluwalia tried to argue time and again with the Deputy Chairman that Mr. Naik cannot be allowed to make his submissions on a State subjects, to that, the Deputy Chairman said that the Chairman has already admitted his notice and therefore, he was allowing him to make his submission.

Mr. Rehman warned the BJP members who had entered the well to go back to their seats and told Mr. Naik to make his submission.
Mr. Naik said that it on account of what BJP said in its National Executive meeting in Bangalaru, there was an attack on Christian community. He also demanded the dismissal of Orissa and Karnataka Government but nothing was heard in the din.
Several members from Congress side rose in support of Mr. Naik and , it was at this stage, as a last resort Shri Panni of BJP rushed towards Mr. Naik to physically obstruct him from speaking.
The Deputy Chairman had no other option than to adjourned the House for lunch.
