The president of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, Mr Sankalp Amonkar decried the statement of the Leader of Opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar’s on Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat’s decision to reduce prices of certain vegetables to contain rising prices of essential commodities.
He also termed that BJP’s selling of vegetables as a political stunt and wondered why Mr Parrikar did not take any measures when prices of essential commodities were rising during his tenure.
Mr Amonkar further said inflation is a national phenomena and state has very limited role, but we must appreciate our Chief Minister’s prompt decision to subsidise some of the vegetables and also formation of Cabinet Committee to look into measures of price control.
Goa is the only state in the country so far to intervene and take positive measures to curb rising prices.
