  1. I second Mr. Cruz’s comments. The exact situation previals in Mapusa too. The Municpal people are only interested in making money and stealing oil from Municipal trucks and cars and using it for their personal use.

Talathi of Mapusa is a big time corrupted person. I greatly wish that these people are arrested and brought to justice.

  2. Its great to visit your website. And many Goans visiting this site.Tnx a lot.

Briefly I wish to mention that if Goa and Goan identity to be preserved for future GEN-X , now its time to wake up from our sleep.
Elected politicians in our Goa Assembly all out to destroy our beautiful motherland and they are to accumulate wealth by selling our forests/mines/Communidade agricultural lands and illegal landfillings of water bodies and rivers as well.

Goa is a popular Tourist destination, but its stinking and Politicians /administrators are still in the dark how to tackle the Garbage problem.. like other cities in Goa , Margao is stinking and Municipal Council ,its Chairperson and Councilors are having fun time sitting in their Chambers..assigned Inspectors /supervisors are keeping their ears/ eyes closed to wathc the prevailing situation. But they are only collecting bribes like their superiors.

We the Citizens pay taxes and they enjoy the benefits by sitting in air conditioned Offices and Luxury cars chaufer driven..by doing nothing.

It is a sad thing to know about your son. The saddest part of the story is that the “stupid goan authorities” failed to help you to resolve the case.

I too feel that Goa is no longer a safe place. Off late a lot of murders have been taking place. I suggest you to contact the below address if you have still not hope.

  7. About four years ago, my son, who was had been teaching yoga at a resort north of Bombay, suddenly
died in Goa. He was 28 years old and was very healthy and happy. We never found out how or why he died. There was no police report and the US Embassy did not help. We were shocked and will always carry deep sadness over our loss of a wonderful son and human being. We do not know what evil lurks in Goa but whatever happened to my son will always remain a mystery.

Does our CM have an explanation for this??? Right from transport to everything is expensive. Is there anything that is made in the interest of the Goans??

  11. Hello Goa !! I’m hoping that somebody can help me out here. I am an Australian male and I am coming to Goa ( via Mumbai ) in late January 2010. I only have 10 days holiday and would like to employ a tour guide to show me around the area. Naturally, I am willing to pay a fee and expenses. I am thinking of staying around the Anjuna area which appears to have nice accommodation and beaches. I’m an easy going guy - not worried too much if things dont go to plan. I’ve travelled quite a bit around the world, but I have never been to India. I’m a bit of a cultural kind of guy - like to try local stuff and buy nice things. I love beer and food! Sometimes I just like to lie around reading a book. Anyway, if anybody is interested in showing me around and earning some money then drop me an email - don.gardiner@riotinto.com

  23. In order to improve traffic safety in Goa, I would like to suggest the below rule which the Traffic cell i.e. RTO authorities should consider.

When any one found guilty or disobeying the traffic rules, the RTO should cancelled the license of the person caught for minimum period of 3/6 months. Paying a fine of 100-500/- Rs is not a big deal for people now a day, and people tend to commit the same mistakes again and again. He/she should be given strict warning that they are not allowed to drive within this period and if caught again, then license will be cancelled for life time.

So that they will realize that they had done some mistake and will not commit the same again.

Plus there need to be some common rules like avoid over speeding, use of speed breakers, traffic signals at important junctions, etc.

So I please request the concerned authorities, to at least consider my suggestion for people’s safety.

  24. Wake up Goans, it’s time to wake up. Stop electing goondas/criminals who run the state today. These politicians have a known history of crimes and their children following their footsteps….
Also request all Goans to stop calling outsiders “ghaatis” as it sounds racist. Recently Mumbai was attacked by terrorists, forces from all over India helped Mumbai police to combat the terrorists….Much before that Mr. Raj Thackeray had spread violence that outsiders should not work in Mumbai. But at the time of the crises in Mumbai, Mr. Thackeray’s policy did not work because forces came from outside Mumbai. People also sacrificed their lives to save Mumbai…..Similarly if some day Goa faces such crises then we might need help from other states also. Im a Goan too, but realise the fact that we need to stop criticising other states and start working to make Goa once again an ideal state and stop all the corruption that is taking place in Goa.

  27. Drug rehabilitation is an umbrella term for the processes of medical and/or psychotherapeutic treatment, for dependency on psychoactive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs, and so-called street drugs such as cocaine, heroin or amphetamines. The general intent is to enable the patient to cease substance abuse, in order to avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that can be caused, especially by extreme abuse.

  32. I appreciate the efforts taken by the Government of Goa & Goans to maintain the integrity in the State. But still we have to go a long way to achieve things which have not yet come into the limelight.

I see a lot of private co-operative societies (private banks) in Goa, these banks offer loans to all eligible people in the State. These loans are given on a high rate of interest compared to nationalized banks. Once a loan is taken from these banks, the loanee has to pay the monthly installments without fail. Incase any installments are missed, then there is a heavy penalty laid along with the heavy rate of interest.

Incase if a loan is not repaid due to a laonee’s death, at that time these so called “Co-operative Societies” try to take extreme action against the family members of the loanee, by trying to take over the assets left by the laonee. The Co-operative Societies do not realize rather understand the pain the family members are going through by the death of a family member.

Instead the Co-operative Societies threaten to take legal action against the family members of the loanee and also threaten to publish their names with photos in the newspaper if the loan is not repaid. The Co-operative Societies try to exploit people. This is a known fact. You will come to know if the Government of Goa tries to conduct a survey on this.

I feel that whenever any Co-operative Society in Goa wants to sanction a loan to a person, at that time they need to insure the loan. It is known as group insurance cover. Some Co-operative Societies are already doing a good job by insuring the loans given by them just to be on the safer side. Because incase if a loanee dies then the guarantors are safe and also the assets left by the loanee are safe and can be utilized by the family members.

But its is concern that all the private banks do not insure the loans that are sanctioned by them, and if a loanee dies then these private banks harass the family members of the loanee without trying to find out whether the family can afford to repay the loan or not. I think recently one of the major banks in India like ICICI have been sued because of the same issues consumers face during the recovery process of the loan. Also the Supreme Court of India has passed a rule that no bank can threaten/blackmail to recover their loan. It should me made mandatory to have group insurance on all loans given by Co-operative societies.

  38. Dear Overseas Goans,

Goan Organisations worldwide are involved in many goodwill services to our Community.

To each Organisation; we need to address a priority on a urgent basis i.e. to mobilise a mass awareness among overseas Goans to protect Goa’s Identity; else we will no longer have a place to call home. The time to act is now!!

I believe that Overseas Goans have a very important role to play given the fact that approx 30% of the Goan population is outside Goa either thru migration or work residency.

This awareness programme needs to be well planned & co-ordinated to spread the facts; This is very important as many Overseas Goans are unaware of the facts threatening our identity. People will only act if they are aware.

Goans generally seem to have resigned themselves to loosing their Identity. If this is the case, then we should stop having Goan organisations or having Goan Conventions as in my view what is the point; if we carry on as we are; soon without a Goa with Goan Identity, all these organisations will not be relevant.
